FAMILY ADVOCACY

FAMILY ADVOCACY: CONNECTING, SUPPORTING, EDUCATING

YOUR PRIMARY INTERACTION WILL LIKELY BE WITH OUR FAMILY ADVOCATE.

Family Advocates play a crucial role in supporting children and families who have experienced trauma, often due to abuse, neglect, or other challenging circumstances. Their role ensures that families are supported every step of the way, empowering them toward healing and resilience!

SUPPORT RECOVERY
Family Advocates work closely with child victims to ensure they feel safe and supported during and after their interactions at our center. They may participate in developing a safety plan and help the child and family with coping strategies as they progress through the recovery process.

FOLLOW-UP & ONGOING SUPPORT
Even after the initial crisis phase, Family Advocates continue to provide ongoing support, often checking in with families to ensure they have the resources needed for long-term healing and stability.

LIAISON
Family Advocates serve as a bridge between the family and various interceding agencies, such as law enforcement. They keep families informed of case developments and coordinate necessary appointments.

Our family advocate is integral to the support and healing process. They help reduce stress and uncertainty and guide families through what can be an overwhelming experience.
  • EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

Family Advocates offer compassion, understanding, and guidance to families throughout the investigation and recovery processes. They help families navigate the emotional impact of abuse and trauma by providing a safe space to express their feelings and concerns.

  • KNOWLEDGE HUB

Advocates bring a wealth of knowledge to their role, explaining investigation, legal, and medical procedures in clear, accessible language so families understand what to expect. This helps reduce fear and confusion and allows families to feel more in control of the process.

  • LEGAL SUPPORT

Family Advocates are essential guides for families navigating the legal system. They provide answers to questions, prepare children and families for court proceedings, and offer steady, compassionate support throughout the process.

  • RESOURCE NAVIGATOR

Connecting families to critical resources, providing emotional support, and helping them understand complex processes like investigations and legal proceedings, they empower families with information and guidance to navigate challenging situations with confidence and resilience. They often coordinate services to ensure the family receives comprehensive support.
